Where coiling is concerned I can be quite impatient. I’m always looking at ways of speeding up the process.  So I tried a combination of knotting and coiling on this rope to see what would happen.  I used 8 pieces of string to secure the walls of the basket, knotting between each round of rope.

To finish off I wrapped the top row to create a border and handle.  The loopy bit on the side was an experiment. Trying to find creative ways to finish off a coiled basket is an ongoing challenge!  The whole thing took about 3 hours.  I guess this still sounds like a long time for such a small basket (10cm high x 18 cm at it’s widest point) but it’s quite speedy in terms of coiling.
